Gorkhapatra was one of the oldest Nepali newspapers. It was published in 1901 and was only a few months younger than Gorkhey Khabar Kagat published by Padri Ganga Prasad Pradhan. The first Nepali was ‘Gorkha Bharat Jeevan’ published in Varanasi in 1886 under the personal initiative of Motiram Bhatta one of the most illustrious names in Nepali Language and Literature. It was edited by Ram Krishna Varma.
