Barun Roy is a scholar, author and a filmmaker based in Darjeeling, India. His research interest include Mass Communication, History and Anthropology. His books include Fallen Cicada – Unwritten History of Darjeeling Hills, Gorkhas and Gorkhaland, Enter the World of Mass Media, Beginners Guide to Journalism and Mass Communication and Understanding Journalism. He also dabbles in fiction which is his first love. His fictional works include Portraits of Life – A collection of Short Stories and Sunset Dreams.
Barun Roy has also edited a number of magazines including Beacon, Darjeeling Times and This Week and Mosksha. He was also the contributing editor of Spaces Nepal. He presently spends his time travelling, reading and writing.
